(Virtual) Note Taking & Report Writing
Description
Environmental regulatory inspectors perform many tasks from emergency response, to inspections, audits and interviews. Memorializing that work is critical to the success of the inspector and the program they work in.
The class starts with the basics of taking notes, equipment used, handling confidential information, use of supplements such as sketches and photos. In the portion on report writing, attendees will break into groups to review a report to review. Reports are the inspector’s first and best opportunity to clearly set forth all of the relevant facts of an inspection and to control the record.
The report writing portion of the class will cover what to include, how to handle problems areas or mistakes and discussion of best practices for clarity and conciseness.
